Protect Yourself Against COVID-19

Important Steps to Lower Risk of Coronavirus Infection

While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant fear around the world, every person is in this fight together; to stay calm, keep healthy, and support one another. At Forum Health, we’re taking every available measure to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff and patients through ongoing education, resources, and supporting services.

Although no vaccine for COVID-19 currently exists, there are safety precautions and measures you can take to limit the risk of infection and strengthen your immune system.

Be Prepared

Help stop coronavirus outbreak and protect yourself by following these prevention tips from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

  1. Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds
  2. Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  3. Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing
  4. Stay at home if you’re sick or experiencing symptoms
  5. Avoid contact with animals, animal markets, and uncooked meat

Get Tested

Know your immune strength and risk for contracting coronavirus by getting a G6PD and CD4:CD8 lab test. Together, these tests will evaluate your system’s ability to fight off infections and may help to predict your chance of developing COVID-19.

The COVID-19 Antibody (AB) Test is also available to determine whether or not you’ve been previously infected with the virus. In particular, this serology blood test identifies the presence of antibodies in your system to evaluate possible immunity to future infections. However, the AB test has limitations and is not used for diagnostic purposes.

What Does the Research Say?

New COVID-19 Clinical Trials on High Dose Vitamin C Therapy

High Dose Vitamin C Infusions

Studies testing the effects of High Dose Vitamin C (HDVC) on coronavirus are currently underway at research institutions across the world. Scientists at the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University are testing its effects on 120 patients who have coronavirus, giving them daily infusions of 24g of vitamin C for seven days. While the results of the study are yet to be published, the therapeutic potential of High Dose Vitamin C appears promising for COVID-19.

In clinical trials, vitamin C has worked against every virus – if given in sufficient concentration Dr. Thomas Levy, MD

In another randomized, blind-placebo study, intravenous vitamin C reduced the risk of patients with sepsis—a life threatening illness caused by the body’s response to an infection—from dying by 16% after one month of treatment. “This therapy could potentially transform the way we care for sepsis patients”, Alpha Fowler, MD of Virginia Commonwealth University.
